The BBBP Scheme was launched on 22nd January, 2015 at Panipat, Haryana State by Hon’ble Prime Minister to protect the interest of the girl children and ensure their education. Ministry of Women and Child Development is the Nodal Ministry for implementing the Scheme.
The census 2011, reveals the extensive and significant decline in Child Sex ratio ( CSR) recording an all- time low of 918 girls for every 1000 boys. 13 out of 35 states and UTs have CSR lower than the national average.
